چکیده
Abstract Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are organic chemicals that consist of carcinogenic and mutagenic properties, which considered as high-priority persistent pollutants (POPs). Their source is due to an incomplete burning fossil fuels materials. In the present study, distribution concentrations 16 priority PAHs in sediments Tampamachoco lagoon Tuxpan River estuary at Gulf Mexico were analyzed. The surface sediment samples collected during dry (March–June) rainy (August–November) seasons. analyzed by means a gas capillary chromatography-FID. season, average concentration was 860 ± 390 ng/g, it 1140 450 ng/g. During both seasons, total chrysene high domain compounds with 4 benzene rings observed. investigated 78.6% sites. 45.5% revealed indicators mixed origin between pyrolytic petrogenic sources, 36.4% petrogenic, remaining 18.2% PAHs.

Source apportionment of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in surface sediments of the Huangpu River, Shanghai, China.
We applied cluster analysis and principal component analysis (PCA) with multivariate linear regression (MLR) to apportion sources of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in surface sediments of the Huangpu River in Shanghai, China, based on the measured PAH concentrations of 32 samples collected at eight sites in four seasons in 2006. The results indicate that petrogenic and pyrogenic source...
متن کاملBiodegradation of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) in Petroleum Contaminated Soils
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are a class of potentially hazardous chemicals of environmental and health concern. PAHs are one of the most prevalent groups of contaminants found in soil. Biodegradation of complex hydrocarbon usually requires the cooperation of more than single specie. In this research biotreatment of PAH (phenanthrene) was studied in a solid-phase reactor using indigenou...
متن کاملPolycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Offshore Surface Sediments of the Northern Persian Gulf, Bushehr Province
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are classified as an important category of semi-volatile and persistent organic pollutants. They cause environmental problems due to their toxicity and accumulation in sediments. In this research, offshore sediments of 19 stations in 8 transects of the Persian Gulf in Bushehr province were studied to assess the sources of PAHs. The extraction and clean up...
متن کاملSource Apportionment of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) in sediments from Chalong Bay, Phuket, Thailand
The potential sources of 16 PAHs in surface sediments from highly tourism activities of Chalong bay, Phuket province, Thailand were apportioned. Twenty-eight of sediment samples were collected by using van Veen grab Sampler from Chalong bay, Phuket. Quantitative analysis of the 16 PAHs which categorized according to the USEPA was analyzed by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS). Moreove...
متن کاملPolycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in sediments from the Mersey Estuary, U.K.
Sediments from the Mersey Estuary were analysed for polycylic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). Total PAH concentrations ranged from 626 to 3766 microg/kg and total PCB concentrations ranged from 36 to 1409 microg/kg. These concentrations are intermediate in comparison to other U.K estuaries with similar histories of industrialisation and urbanisation. The distr...
